An Airstrip for Isla Nublar was planned by designers as another point of access to Jurassic Park. It is unclear what stage this was at before the abandonment of the park. A slide in the luncheon scene alludes to existence of such an idea depicting a passenger jet rising from the tropical jungle close to a beach.
Upon the the completion and opening of the Park, the Airstrip would have been served by Continental Airlines as evident from the Park Brochure.
Production Notes
A line in the final version of the script, but cut from the film suggests that construction had yet to start:
HAMMOND (cont’d) “We’re planning an airstrip! On pilings, extending out into the ocean twelve thousand feet! Like La Guardia, only a lot safer! What do you think?”
