jurassic_park_3d_15As the capital of the country in which Isla Nublar and Las Cinco Muertes are located, San José is an important location in for the events that take place as a result of InGen‘s activities. Aside from being the seat of the Costa Rican government from which John Hammond bought Isla Sorna and leased Isla Nublar. It is here that Dennis Nedry met with Lewis Dodgson to discuss Nedry’s mission for the rival genetics company that Dodgson worked for. At a small outdoor cafe, Dodgson gave Nedry a cryogenic container disguised as a can of Barbasol shaving cream and a suitcase of  $750,000, with a promise of an additional $50,000 for each viable embryo taken off of Isla Nublar for a total of $1.5 million in US dollars. Afterwards, a waiter arrived with the bill for Nedry’s extensive lunch, which Nedry then forced Dodgson to pay, citing that it was John Hammond‘s cheapness that he was doing this service for Dodgson in the first place.

In 2001, after a tragic parasailing accident that led to the stranding of twelve year old Eric Kirby on Isla Sorna, Paul and Amanda Kirby unsuccessfully lobbied the US embassy in San Jose to mount a rescue mission to save their son.
