Dinosaur Riverside Landscape (Beauty Shot) – Isla Sorna (S/F)

JP3Paras11The “dinosaur riverside landscape” is a (relatively) small area on Isla Sorna that Alan Grant and the Kirbys passed by while sailing down the river away from the aviary. The area was frequented by numerous dinosaur species, among them Ankylosaurus and Brachiosaurus. Shortly before arriving at this location, Grant explained the difference between children who want to be astronauts and those who want to be astronomers: that astronomers  are the ones who want to observe the fascinating and beautiful things of the universe from a safe, controlled environment; in contrast, the astronauts want to actually go to those places in spite of the danger involved. With Grant’s example, he thus explained the difference between paleontologists like himself–who dig up the fossils of dinosaurs in safety–and the creators of Jurassic Park, who decided to physically recreate dinosaurs.
