The Chechen Republic, commonly referred to as Chechnya is a federal subject of Russia. It is located in the North Caucasus, situated in the southernmost part of Eastern Europe, and within 100 kilometers of the Caspian Sea. While introducing himself at Eddie Carr’s Garage in 1997, Nick van Owen mentioned having been in Chechnya while working for Nightline as a cameraman when discussing his expertise to Eddie Carr and Dr. Ian Malcolm while the three prepared for their upcoming documentation expedition to Isla Sorna for Dr. John Hammond.
