The hydroelectric dam located at the southern end of Biosyn Valley provides power to the installations of the Biosyn Genetics Sanctuary and to Biosyn headquarters.
Behind the Scenes
Biosyn’s dam is located very close to the location of the real-life Vajont Dam, and was probably inspired by it. However, Universal Studios actually scanned the Grande Dixence Dam in Switzerland for the CGI modeling process. This is probably because the Grande Dixence Dam is operational, whereas the Vajont Dam has no reservoir and has been disused since the 1963 megatsunami which killed up to 2,500 people in the Piave Valley (which is located roughly where the film’s Biosyn Valley exists).
