The blue passionflower (Passiflora caerulea), also called the bluecrown or common passionflower, is a species of flowering deciduous vine in the family Passifloraceae. Like all passion vines, it produces passionfruit, which is edible, although this particular species has a bland taste. Its flowers are pollinated by bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. This species is native to tropical South America, but is cultivated as an ornamental plant; it also has medicinal properties and has been traditionally used in its native habitat for thousands of years. Blue passionflower vines may grow up to 82 feet up trees and other surfaces.
