Campylobacter is a genus of common, gram-negative bacterium in the family Campylobacteraceae. As of 2023, there were at least forty-two known species. Certain species can be pathogenic and often infect domestic animals, especially poultry. The species Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli are known for infecting humans. The disease caused by this bacterium is known as campylobacteriosis, with symptoms including fever, abdominal pain, and dysentery.
