A compressed oxygen tank is an oxygen storage vessel which stores gaseous oxygen under high pressure in a gas cylinder. This has a variety of uses, including medical breathing, oxygen therapy, gas blending, welding, and metal alloy manufacturing. Scuba divers may use compressed oxygen tanks, but more commonly their tanks contain other gases such as nitrox or simply compressed air. Compressed oxygen is, however, used in the manufacturing of nitrox and similar breathing gases.
