Duct Tape (S/F-JWCC)

Duct tape, originally called duck tape after the cotton duck cloth it was made from in the past, is a type of pressure-sensitive tape with cloth or scrim backing and typically a polyethylene coat. It was developed around 1899, with the modern term “duct tape” appearing by 1965. While many people mistakenly believe that “duct tape” was the original name and “duck tape” is a corruption of the term, in reality it is the other way around.
