I just wanted to share some great news regarding Museum of Natural History in Belgrade.
Namely after decades and even centuries the Museum will finally get a proper building for storage and exhibits.
The Museum of Natural History in Belgrade holds one of, if not the largest collection of paleontological, botanical and geological value (apparently over 2 million individual items). For the longest time Museum was located in an inadequate building of former female Gymnasium and exhibitions were held in small gallery separated from the main building. The status of the Museum was not solved under the Monarchy nor under Communist rule and it seems that now it will finally have a proper place to display its rich collection.
The new building will be located near a river bank, basically embedded in the ground that will follow the curvature of the bank.
As someone who studied Geology and strived to become a legit Paleontologist, I'm more than happy that our city and country will join the rest of the world with proper and large space for display, storing, and hosting exhibits.
What do you think of this unorthodox design for a museum? Most of world museums are located in decades or centuries old buildings.
