Located down a paved road behind the Sauropod Maintenance Building, the Lagoon Dock was small and constructed of concrete. At one end of the dock was the raft storage shed. When Dr. Alan Grant along with Lex and Tim Murphy accessed the dock in 1989 in their trek back to the Isla Nublar Visitors’ Center, they found the dock to be the location of a Tyrannosaurus rex‘s nap. Carefully moving around the snoozing animal, they were able to inflate and launch raft only for the Tyrannosaurus to be awoken by a sneeze from Lex. After a very close chase, the Tyrannosaurus gave up in order to protect a recent kill she made from another, smaller, Tyrannosaurus.
