Llama (S/F)

The llama (Lama glama) is a species of artiodactyl mammal in the family Camelidae, native to South American highlands. It has been domesticated since between 2000 BCE and 3000 BCE, which was a key factor in South American humans developing societies based around agriculture rather than hunter-gatherer lifestyles. Llamas are used as beasts of burden, and their wool is used for clothing. They are also killed for their meat. In the wild, they are very social herd animals, with distinct hierarchies and numerous vocalizations they use to communicate. Llamas produce antibodies which are highly effective against coronaviruses.
