After Ian Malcolm was attacked and critically injured by the female Tyrannosaurus Rex, he was taken back to the Safari Lodge to be treated. Gerry Harding adjusted Malcolm’s IV line that helped to pump high levels of morphine into Malcolm’s bloodstream, to dull his pain. It is unknown if the IV was ultimately removed when Malcolm slipped into a coma, or if the IV was part of a first aid kit or from Harding’s veterinary supplies.
