Microinjection Needle (S/F)

A microinjection needle, or microneedle, is a glass micropipette used to inject minute amounts of substance into very small targets, generally at cellular scales (microscopic or just barely macroscopic). Microneedles are commonly used in medicine, genetics, cloning, and other biological sciences due to their ability to pierce, but not damage, cellular membranes. Invented in the 20th century, they became common in the 1990s.
