Mycosis, also simply called a fungal infection, is a disease caused when a pathogenic fungus infects an animal’s body. There are three types of mycosis: superficial, in which the surface tissues such as skin are infected; subcutaneous, in which tissues beneath the skin are infected; and systemic, in which one or more of the body systems (such as organs) are infected.
