Okapi (S/F)

The okapi (Okapia johnstoni), also called the forest giraffe, Congolese giraffe, or zebra giraffe, is a species of artiodactyl mammal in the family Giraffidae, with giraffes being its closest living relatives. It is very rare, endemic to a small region of rainforest in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is reclusive, herbivorous, and mostly solitary, and its populations are threatened by logging, illegal mining, and poaching. As of 2025, they are considered an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
