The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is a United States government agency that regulates civil aviation within the country’s boundaries and over adjacent international waters. It certifies pilots and airline staff as well as passenger aircraft, governs air traffic control on a national scale, regulates airports, and regulates the launch and reentry of commercial spacecraft within American airspace. The FAA was founded on August 23, 1958.
