Adding to our pantheon of costuming guides is the Jurassic World Security Officer. A popular costume often seen at conventions along with others like Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and the Park Vets, the Security Officer is a fairly straight forward and lightly customizable costume. SHIRT The shirt is fairly recognizable by its double arching pocket flaps, pinch spots at approximate badge location, and front pleating as the polyester short-sleeve uniform shirt in tan by the brand First Class. This shirt is available through Wal-Mart and other retailers both online and in store. This shirt is customized with a sewn-on Jurassic World Security patch on each of the sleeves. The patches are available through many fan vendors on both eBay and Etsy. The shirt also has a chocolate brown,…
Love him, or hate him, Nick Van Owen, the videographer of Dr. John Hammond‘s Isla Sorna expedition, has a well equipped ensemble. Breezy, multi pocketed clothing is a large part of Nick’s costume. Vest Nick’s vest is a Willis & Geiger Bush Poplin Skeleton Coast Photojournalist Safari Vest. There appear to be no alterations to this vest, and Nick wears it through most of the first half of the film, until losing it when the Fleetwood RV trailers are pushed off a cliff by a pair of territorial Tyrannosaurus rex parents. Identification provided by RPF member Rymo. T-Shirt Nick’s t-shirt is an olive drab short sleeved t-shirt tucked into Nick’s pants. For added battle damage, in after being worn…
Ken Wheatley, the great white hunter underlacky of Eli Mills in 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” wears a surprisingly amount of khaki clothing for his venture to Isla Nublar. However, his costume components are actually rather easy to identify. SHIRT Wheatley’s shirt is easily recognizable as a Second World War era khaki U.S. Army Officer’s twill shirt, likely a reproduction and not an original. The 45 degree angled corners on the pockets make this identification easy. The shirt is dirtied from age, and Wheatley rolls the sleeves to just below the elbow. These shirts are easily available through most vintage military costume sites. Costume dirt is likewise easily available through online retailers. PANTS Like the shirt, Wheatley’s pants are also army surplus. They are khaki BDU pants. Dirty…
Gerry Harding (played by producer Gerald Molen) is the park veterinarian for Jurassic Park, and his costume, due to its simplicity and ease of putting together, has been very popular with the Jurassic Park fandom, and many Jurassic Park cosplayers in general. The costume does not have a lot of unique effects to it, making it one of the costumes of choice for many. Shirt -AG-415 style US Army green short sleeved shirt with the epaulets removed -White undershirt -Yellow field Jurassic Park logo with white edging patch on left sleeve. These are relatively easy to find online, and although most are iron-on, it is suggested that they are sewn on for better permanence. Pants -AG-489 style US Army green dress pants -Simple black…
Barry, Owen Grady’s right hand man during his Raptor research at Jurassic World: Isla Nublar, is a man of sensible practicality. Donning business casual wear with professionalism that takes the tropical heat into consideration, Barry is ready to take on the work day in style. Outer Shirt Barry wears a linen, short-sleeved button up that keeps him cool in the tropical heat. Barry wears this salmon-pink shirt open, with his undershirt exposed. The sleeves have a rolled hem, and the two front pockets have a narrowed flap closed by a metal snap-button. Undershirt Barry wears a yellowed sleeveless undershirt, likely dirtied by sweat and years of field research. The shirt is not tucked, but the collar has been stretched and has a hem. Pants Barry wears BDU khaki…
Zach Mitchell, Claire Dearing’s nephew, is a typical teenager. Fashion comes before function, and that’s reflected in the way he dresses. Wearing skinny jeans and a hoodie in the jungle, Zach puts his personal dress above comfort in the tropical environment of Isla Nublar. Jacket Zach actually wears two jackets in the course of the film. The main one he wears is a light grey cotton zip hoodie. This hoodie has a speckled pattern. Really, any grey hoodie would do for this costume. However, at his Madison, Wisconsin home, Zach also wears an M-65 field jacket over his grey hoodie. This is not seen worn by Zack after the airport scene. Shirt Zach wears a burgundy or dark red short sleeved t-shirt with a crew neck. Again, any typical…
Sarah Harding‘s a behavioral paleontologist who appears as Ian Malcolm‘s girlfriend in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. While not a fan favorite, she certainly adds to the pantheon of characters in this franchise. Jacket: Sarah Harding wears a beige cotton trucker type-3 jacket of unknown brand, possibly Levi’s. In the movie, the jacket buttons are silver, but the closest match has dark buttons of unknown material. Shirt: Harding wears a burgundy/dark red Michael Stars v-necked, short-sleeved T-shirt under her bush jacket. Here’s the screen used one alongside a similar shirt: Shirt ID courtesy of RPF member Petar. Pants: Sarah wears olive drab corduroys pants of an unknown brand. Pictured are a similar pair. Belt: Plain brown belt with a square silver buckle. Any belt of this description should…
The venerable big game hunter Roland Tembo has a wealthy wardrobe to match his stature. Outfitted mostly by Willis & Geiger, Roland’s outfit is as safari ready as his experience is. I would like to thank the members at the Fedora Lounge and the RPF for the ID on the jacket and hat respectively. Jacket: Roland wears a tan, Willis & Geiger Hemingway style bush jacket. This jacket is lightweight, and was designed by famous writer and outdoorsman Ernest Hemingway himself for safari in Africa. The jacket runs big, about 4 sizes larger than marked, so a size 40 will fit a size 44 man. Roland keep a large rifle slug in each of the slug pockets that’s above the left breast pocket. The sleeves are worn rolled…
Alan Grant, the classic paleontologist character of Jurassic Park. So many couples love dressing up as him and Dr. Ellie Sattler. These costumes were originally gathered by 501st member and former JPLegacy props and costumes administrator Keith Olsen. He originally set up so many of these old costume guides that have helped so many fans cosplay as their favorite characters. I’d also like to give a special shout out to Paul Elder, for his perseverance in gathering so many of the original items used just like the items in the movie to build his costume! Hat: The original hat was a palm leaf straw hat with 3 inch brim made by Baron Hats in Hollywood, USA, however there are many acceptable substitutes. Two popular substitutes are the Sunbody…
