We get that you probably have questions about the site. We’ve collected some of the most frequently asked questions and have provided answers. If you have any question that wasn’t answered with this page we encourage you to register on our message board and ask it there. Our staff members check the board daily if there looks to be no recent or new activity. Rest assured we will respond to you as soon as possible.

How do I use this site?
Enter your query (the thing you are searching for) into the search box and press enter to search to find it.

How does navigation work if I just want to read articles section by section on this site?
On your right, there is a drop-down box to select the category of articles you want to see from that specific category. The more precise you are on the category, the more specific the articles will be upon that category you are examining.

If this is an encyclopedia, why don’t you cite your sources in every article?
Truly, every article in the encyclopedia would have exactly the same set of sources with a few variations for specific things. While sometimes we will tack that specific source on specific articles, we typically keep our sources confined to a specific page to make the article itself look less messy, especially because it would just come across as another wall of text. We maintain a Works Cited page in which we cite our major sources. That said, we do sometimes fall behind with it as there’s a limited number of staff working on articles in a volunteer capacity. We make our best attempt at revising it with updated sources regularly.

What can I do if I have either noticed an error, want to expand a particular area that isn’t properly covered by you that I happen to know, or even revise one of your articles if it is missing critical information that was overlooked?
There are a variety of ways to get involved with us. Ideally, the best place is to register on our message board with a proposal so we can review it and discuss it. Oftentimes times if the proposal is something we definitely can use or even feel that we need we will update the relevant articles whenever we can on the next rotation in our staff. Every proposal given, even from regular contributors who have access is always properly verified for accuracy, authenticity, and suitability. If one is looking to get involved with the site after submission and review of their proposal it very well can lead to a contributor status being granted in lieu of having to go through the application process and having to apply with a writing sample. This isn’t always a “guaranteed in” though, but loyalty shown is loyalty earned and we will always reward people for demonstrating such initiative and even welcome it.

How do I apply to be a contributor to this encyclopedia?
This section here is the application and this section here discusses our Research Protocol and our desire to be academic with our approach.

What is your stance on guest posts for the “news” or “blog” aspects of this page?
We typically don’t allow advertisements and solicitations unless it is specifically related to the subject matter of this site (Jurassic media series, dinosaurs, paleontology, or related). We are a Jurassic Park/Jurassic World media franchise Encyclopedia first and foremost, and science communicators second. Knowledge is power. We also don’t believe we should “rent” or “lease” out postings for our site to advertisers or even allow ads in general on this site. If we do sponsored posts or posts about a product we want it to be branded for Jurassic Park/Jurassic World. Occasionally we will showcase other dinosaur-themed creative endeavors that we feel are significant or of interest. This site is an ad-free zone ultimately. This is contrary to many FANDOM-oriented wikis as well with overly intrusive ads that obscure or even block content altogether.
