Indominus Paddock (S/F)

Promotional concept art for the upcoming attraction featured on Jurassic World’s website.

The Indominus Paddock was a planned attraction at Jurassic World which would have displayed the Indominus rex, had the animal been successfully exhibited. It was officially known as “Verizon Wireless Presents: Indominus rex,” and was scheduled to open Summer, 2016. The planned location of the paddock in the park is not precisely know, however it is known to be a separate structure from Paddock 11, which was used to temporarily house the Indominus until the completion of her new paddock.

The paddock was to be a large hexagonal structure made in the standardized stacks of thick, stamped concrete as seen in other infrastructure throughout the park. The walls would have been reinforced with large steel beams and struts, which would have also supported a comprehensive lighting system. The presence of stadium lighting suggests that night shows were expected to run. Stadium seating with bleacher seats similar to that seen in other Jurassic World attractions such as the Mosasaurus Feeding Show, would ring the top of three of the six sides of the paddock. Because of the scheduled timing of the expected opening of “Verizon Wireless Presents: Indominus rex,” and the abrupt permanent closure of Jurassic World in December, 2015, it is unknown if the arena began construction, or was in the process of construction, when the park was abandoned. However,  it is known that unforeseen issues with the Indominus had led to increased reinforcement of her planned paddock, pushing back her initial premiere date from May, 2016.
