Jeff Goldblum

Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum is an American-born actor, born on October 22nd, 1952. Goldblum’s popularity has increased over the years, but was really sparked when he starred as the character Ian Malcolm, a sarcastic chaotician in Steven Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park. Other notable films Goldblum has starred in are The Lost World: Jurassic ParkIndependence Day (and its sequel, Independence Day: Resurgence), and The Fly.

Biography

Jeff was born and raised in West Homestead, Pennsylvania. His mother was a radio host turned kitchen appliance salesperson, and his father was a medical doctor. At the age of 17, Goldblum moved to New York and studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse. He made his film debut in the 1974 film Death Wish. Interestingly enough, he was the voice actor for most United States Apple commercials for several years. From 1980 to 1986, Goldblum was married to Patricia Gaul, and from 1987 to 1990, he was married to his The Fly co-star Greena Davis. Jeff was a pianist for the music genre of jazz, and said that if he did not get into acting, he would have became a professional musician. In 2014 he married Canadian Olympic gymnast Emilie Livingston, and on July 4th, 2015, their son Charlie was born. Their second child and son, River Joe, was born on April 7th, 2017.

Jurassic Park

Jeff Goldblum has been a major part of the Jurassic Park franchise since the beginning. Fans fell in love with his portrayal of the character Ian Malcolm, and quickly became a fan favorite. He went on to reprise his role in the 1997 sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park, where he was the front-man instead of a supporting character like in the first film. His character is mentioned by name in the third installment, and Easter eggs of his book “God Creates Dinosaurs” is seen in the 2015 resurrection of the franchise, Jurassic World. He came back to do a cameo in the newest film in the series, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where his character sat in front of a group of government officials to explain why saving the dinosaurs was a bad idea.

Goldblum’s part in the franchise doesn’t just include the films, however. He narrated the 1993 documentary The Real Jurassic Park, as well as appeared in promotional advertisements for the film’s release. He voiced for the PC game “Chaos Island”, and recorded an end video for the 1997 console game “The Lost World: Jurassic Park“. He filmed an interview for the 2011 documentary Return to Jurassic Park which was released with the Jurassic Park: Ultimate Trilogy box-set. He had a major hand in the promotional material for the fifth installment in the series Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and the phrase “life finds a way”, which was his line in the original film and therefore popularized by him, was the fifth film’s tagline. He voice acted as the players guide for the 2018 game “Jurassic World: Evolution“, a park-building simulator.
