Creola Katherine Johnson (née Coleman) (August 26, 1918 – February 24, 2020) was an African-American mathematician known for her work at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration over the course of thirty-three years. She was extremely skilled at performing complex calculations, and she was critical to orbital mechanics research which enabled crewed spaceflight.
