Megaloceros sp. (L/M)

Megaloceros is a genus of large deer in the subfamily Cervinae, closely related to modern fallow deer. It inhabited Eurasia between 1.2 million and 7,700 years ago, during the Calabrian age of the Neogene period until the Northgrippian age of the Quaternary period. There are six known species:

  • M. antecedens
  • M. giganteus, the type species
  • M. luochuanensis
  • M. matritensis
  • M. novocarthaginiensis
  • M. savini
