Orchid (S/F)

Orchids are flowering plants in the family Orchidaceae. There are currently 763 known genera which collectively include close to 28,000 species. New species are discovered continuously; the number of scientifically-recognized orchid species is around four times as many as the number of mammals (about 6,400 recognized by biologists). Found around the world and known for their fragrant blooms, orchids are notable for the remarkable level of coevolution they show with their pollinators.
