Jimmy Buffett (December 25, 1946 – September 1, 2023) was an American musician and businessman known for his tropical rock songs, which he performed with his Coral Reefer Band. Buffett’s music is best known for thematic elements of escapism and are commonly associated with vacation and retirement. Along with music, Buffett was the creator of aesthetically similar business ventures, most famously Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

He made a cameo in 2015’s Jurassic World, portraying himself at the park. A fictional Margaritaville location was prominently featured in the film as well. According to a behind-the-scenes featurette, Buffett’s stage name in Jurassic World was “Jim Buktu,” and he was an official bartender for the park. In real life Jimmy Buffett and producer Frank Marshall were close friends, and Buffett had previously played cameo roles in some of Marshall’s previous films.
