A sausage is a meat product made from ground meat, salt, and flavoring such as spices. Loose sausage meat can be formed into patties, or it may be stuffed into a skin; the latter is what is meant when referring to an individual sausage. The making of sausages is a meat preservation technique with roots in ancient Eurasia.
