A socket wrench (or “socket spanner” in British English) is a tool that uses a closed socket to turn a bolt, nut or other fastener. Most socket wrenches utilize a ratchet mechanism which can be outfitted with hexagonal sockets of varying size to accommodate for the dimensions of various fasteners.
