Sulfur Dioxide (S/F)

Sulfur dioxide (SO2), also spelled sulphur dioxide, is a gaseous chemical compound whose molecules are made up of one atom of sulfur and two of oxygen; it is released by exothermic reactions involving sulfur. It is commonly produced in volcanic eruptions and by the burning of sulfur-containing fossil fuels. This gas is toxic and has a distinct smell, recognizable to anyone who has ever lit a match.
