Laughing Kookaburra (S/F)

The laughing kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is a species of bird in the kingfisher subfamily Halcyoninae. It is easily identified by its call, which sounds like laughter. It is native to dry eucalypt forests and other woodland of eastern Australia, though it has been introduced to other parts of the world (mostly in nearby Pacific countries). Its name comes from the onomatopoeic Wiradjuri word guuguubarra, which refers to the bird’s call.
