Nublar Lady Beetle (S/F-CCJW)

An unidentified species of lady beetle, an insect in the family Coccinellidae, is known from Isla Nublar and was recorded in a field guide kept by Darius Bowman in 2016. It probably represents one of many species of lady beetles found on the island. There are nearly sixty different ladybug species known from Costa Rica; although the illustration is not detailed enough to determine for sure, this species may be one of those found on the mainland or an endemic species to Isla Nublar. Considering the de-extinction projects that took place on Isla Nublar, it may even represent a species that had previously become extinct. It has an unusual pattern with a single central spot on its carapace and smaller spots near the edges; the Costa Rican lady beetle it most closely resembles is Epilachna vincta, so it may be related to this species.
