Twinkie (S/F)

Twinkies are American snack cakes sold by Hostess Brands, Inc. They were invented on April 6, 1930 by baker James Dewar. Twinkies consist of a golden sponge cake with a creamy filling. Many people believe that Twinkies have an extraordinarily long shelf life, still being edible after hundreds of years and being impervious to radiation, thus making them an ideal snack in the event of a large-scale nuclear war. However, in real life, they will begin to grow mold by the 26-day mark, though advanced modern preservatives can extend this shelf life to 45 days. They are not any more resistant to being irradiated by nuclear fallout than other brands of cake.
